Guidelines

We’re looking for any news article, blog entry or other new Web page that talks about some specific place in New York. Some examples are:

• A blog entry that mentions a new restaurant
• A newspaper article that discusses a neighborhood
• A podcast episode or YouTube video that is relevant to a particular place in New York

There are two essential parts to each link:

• A specific location, such as a neighborhood, address or place. We’re focused on specific locations, so if an article is about the mayor’s new citywide tax, that’s too broad for us. But if the article mentions a real-estate development in a particular neighborhood, that’s right up our alley. Just enter the place, and we’ll do the work of mapping it.
• Newness, i.e., it’s somehow new to the Web. For example, a 1998 article about a neighborhood wouldn’t be relevant, but something published today or yesterday would be worth submitting.

The litmus test here is: "If I lived nearby, would I be interested in knowing about this article?"

If you’d like to submit articles from your own blog or news organization, go for it! We’d love to point people to your stories and blog entries.

We manually approve each link after it’s submitted — so please note that there will be a short delay between your submission and the link’s publication on our site. We will not accept spam, hate speech, or content that is otherwise inappropriate according to our discretion. If you’re from a news organization or reputable blog and would like to bypass this process, please get in touch.

Note that you can submit multiple locations for a given link. If, say, you’ve written a blog entry comparing three local schools, you can submit the link with each of those three locations. Use the button below that says "This link has multiple locations, so submit more."
