Separate Hit-Run Accidents Kill 2 and Injure 13 Others
In Inwood at 5 a.m. the police found a 65-year-old man with head injuries on Sherman Avenue at Arden Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police. Witnesses said a black sedan fled north on Sherman after hitting the man, who was not immediately identified.

Details Emerge About Car Chase that Prompted Shooting
The spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said that a report that four men inside the car had committed robbery led to a chaotic 15-minute car chase that ended with the shooting, at 188th Street near Amsterdam Avenue, about 8:20 p.m. Mr. Browne said the robbery turned out to have been a bogus drug deal.
