The Biggest Sales of '08, So Far
The credit for the State Street house picture say "52 State" whereas the listing is for 82 State. Do you have the wrong picture? I think you might because the pictured house sure doesn't look 26' 0" wide to me.

Development Watch: Aloft Hotel Fully Aloft
The Aloft/Sheraton hotelapalooza rising at 222 Duffield Street has made big strides since we checked in back in February. From what we're hearing, though, it's going to be another 18 months or so until this bad boy's open for business. How do you think it's shaping up in the looks department?

Atlantic Ave. & Smith St.
The Shock of the Nu, Hammocks Included
The ground-floor windows in part of Shaya Boymelgreen's development on Atlantic and Smith have started advertising the coming of the Nu, the boutique hotel that'll occupy a section of the building. The 93-room Nu will be operated by Hersha Hospitality, which said it was going to put $6 million into finishing the property after it bought it off Boymelgreen earlier this year. The hotel experience will be "like wearing your favorite t-shirt with a beloved pair of jeans," according to its (incomplete) website, and if the rendering included is accurate, some or all the rooms will sport hammocks. The site says the Nu will be open sometime this summer but doesn't give any indication of the going rates. What we know, for now, is this: "The perfect fit for Brooklyn, Nu Hotel is smart, clean, elegant, simple, cool and confident – and most of all casual. Nu is all about you."

Streetlevel: Soft Opening for General Greene
That was pretty quick. It was only two months ago that we were noting the closure of the restaurant June at the corner of Dekalb and Clermont in Fort Greene. And now comes word that its replacement, an establishment to be known as The General Greene, will be soft-opening tonight and this weekend with drinks and bar snacks. The official opening is July 1. Right This Way to The Waterfalls
In case you didn't get your fill of the Waterfalls yesterday, we've got one more post for ya: A reader drew our attention to these pictographs that now dot the streets in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights. The shot above comes from the bottom of York Street and the one on the jump comes, via the reader, from the corner of Henry and Clark. Makes sensewe'd guesstimate that about half the lunchtime crowd at the Pop-Up Park yesterday were European tourists.

330 Jay St
How Much For a Downtown 'Scaper? At Least Half a Bil.
We know 330 Jay Street as purgatory the place where we were recently really happy to serve on jury duty. The city, however, thinks of 330 Jay as a building that's worthy of a $499,401,179 investment. That's how much it recently paid to buy the condominium portion of the skyscraper (28 of its 33 stories, or 830,879 square feet). The building, completed in 2005, was a public-private development with Forest City Ratner, which retains control of its top five floors. The condo portion of 330 Jay contains its courthouses and was more or less already controlled by the city (via a city-generated nonprofit called Jay Street Development Corp), but not owned outright. The skyscraper cost $670 million to build. Our question: Is this the most valuable high-rise in Brooklyn? Gotta at least be in the running. Photo by Property Shark.
