  • Cranberry and Hicks Man with Injured Dog in North Heights

The reason I ask is that about a year ago, I helped a young man who also couldn’t pay for medial care for his dog. He claimed that the dog had been attacked by another dog. We brought the dog to Dr. Norton on Cranberry and Hicks (who graciously reduced her normal fee for treatment).

  • 65 Montague St Life is Short, Scaffolding is Long

We recently got an inquiry from a reader concerning the scaffolding at 65 Montague, shown above, which has now been joined by similar scaffolding in front of the adjoining Heights Casino, resulting in about two thirds of the sidewalk on the north side of Montague between Henry and Pierrepont Place being covered. Our interrogator was particularly puzzled because no work on the facade of 65 Montague has been evident for some time, while the scaffolding has remained. As can be seen from the photo, the building was originally issued a permit for scaffolding that expired on April 1, 2007, but has now been extended to December 31 of this year. A new proposal has been tabled, and the review process will begin anew with a hearing before Community Board 2’s Land Use Committee tomorrow at 6:00 P.M., at 6 Metrotech Center (enter from Jay Street), Room RH116.
