Police said Nicholas Nowillo got into a confrontation with 43-year-old Eric Cherry after escorting a female neighbor to her car late Wednesday night in Long Island City.

Police said the 43-year-old maniac attacked Nowillow on Crescent St., punching and kicking him near his Long Island City home. Emergency workers raced to the scene and took him to Astoria General Hospital where he died.

The 66-year-old victim, Nick Nowillo, was allegedly escorting a neighborhood woman home on Cresent Avenue in Long Island City late Wednesday. The woman told police she had asked for the help because the suspect, who has not been identified, was seen in the street acting strangely.
