Neighbors have been against the opening of a Starbucks, since it was announced that it would take over the space of The Bean.
EVGrive reported the location was egged over the weekend: http://evgrieve.com/2012/02/someone-egged-new-starbucks-on-first.html
I stopped by this morning to see what all the fuss was about. I do prefer my local East Village coffee shops to Starbucks, but when you're running to the subway or are in need of a coffee shop that takes credit cards, it's always a quick fix.
The case was stocked with pastries, the space is very clean and the staff was friendly. One barista was outside giving away coffee samples to neighbors.
Are you planning to frequent this Starbucks?
I don't know if I'll "frequent" it, but I'll go if I'm in the area. What I don't understand is the people so angry about it. Heard someone egged it. Why? Just because it's a chain? So what? If you had a business, wouldn't you want to expand it? Not to mention the fact that it's not any more expensive than other coffee places in the neighborhood, like The Bean and B-Cup. It's also a very unassuming facade - just gray and a small sign. It's not out of place and blends right in. You wouldn't even know it was there if it hadn't been for all the publicity.
